Local Community Outreach for Energy Efficiency

Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL) provides educational outreach programs that promote energy conservation, renewable energy awareness, and practical technical skills among communities, secondary school students, vocational educators, and occupational groups.

Between January 2025 and March 2026, the university implemented and participated in educational activities focusing on renewable energy, solar photovoltaic systems, bioenergy, and energy-efficient technology.

These initiatives extend access to energy knowledge beyond university students and support broader public understanding of sustainable energy use.

Renewable Energy Education for Secondary School Students

On February 21, 2025, RMUTL’s Faculty of Engineering at Nan Campus collaborated with Satri Sri Nan School to organize renewable energy learning activities for 40 Grade 7 students.

The activity introduced fundamental energy concepts and renewable energy technologies, helping young learners understand the importance of energy conservation and alternative energy sources.

On September 10, 2025, RMUTL Nan organized a further practical learning activity for students from Santisuk Pittayakhom School.

The program focused on energy development and bioenergy from agricultural waste, demonstrating connections between agricultural resources, waste utilization, and potential renewable energy applications.

These activities supported energy literacy and practical learning among young people in local communities.

Solar Photovoltaic Skills for External Occupational Groups

During February 2025, RMUTL participated in training activities on the installation and maintenance of solar photovoltaic systems for independent workers and designated occupational groups.

The training transferred technical knowledge relevant to the safe and effective application of solar energy technology.

Participants gained access to professional learning opportunities that may support employment and the wider use of renewable energy systems.

The initiative demonstrates how university expertise can contribute to community workforce development and practical clean energy adoption.

Energy Conservation Knowledge Transfer in Chiang Rai

On June 18, 2025, RMUTL Chiang Rai collaborated with Academic Service Center 7, Chiang Mai, to deliver energy conservation knowledge.

The activity strengthened cooperation between the university and external energy-related organizations and provided opportunities to communicate practical approaches to more efficient energy use.

Through this partnership, RMUTL supported the dissemination of energy conservation knowledge beyond regular university teaching activities.

Professional Renewable Energy Competency Development

On July 15, 2025, RMUTL reported cooperation with the Office of the Vocational Education Commission in conducting renewable energy professional training and competency assessment for vocational teachers.

The initiative strengthened technical knowledge and professional skills relevant to renewable energy education.

By supporting vocational educators, the university contributed to a wider educational network capable of transferring clean energy knowledge to future learners and technical workers.

Learning from Community Energy Systems

In May 2025, RMUTL researchers participated in EENET 2025 and visited the Ban Khlong Ruea community microgrid in Chumphon Province.

The visit provided opportunities to observe community-scale electricity management and exchange knowledge concerning decentralized energy systems.

While the study visit was primarily an academic learning activity rather than a direct public training program, the experience supported RMUTL’s wider understanding of community renewable energy applications.

Summary of Outreach Activities

Date Activity External Participants Educational Contribution
February 2025 Solar PV installation and maintenance training Independent workers and occupational groups Practical renewable energy skills
February 21, 2025 Renewable energy learning, Nan 40 secondary school students Awareness of energy conservation and renewable technologies
June 18, 2025 Energy conservation knowledge transfer, Chiang Rai External participants in the educational activity Energy conservation awareness
July 15, 2025 Renewable energy professional competency training Vocational educators Professional knowledge and teaching capacity
September 10, 2025 Bioenergy from agricultural waste, Nan Secondary school students Bioenergy and resource utilization knowledge

Overall Community Contribution

RMUTL’s activities demonstrate its role in providing renewable energy and energy efficiency education outside formal university degree programs.

The initiatives supported youth energy literacy, practical solar technology competencies, vocational teacher development, and broader awareness of energy conservation.

By combining university expertise with cooperation from schools, public agencies, and vocational networks, RMUTL strengthens opportunities for local communities to understand and apply cleaner energy technologies.

The documented outputs concern training and learning activities. Longer-term changes in energy use or renewable energy adoption would require follow-up evaluation.
