Learning Express 2025: RMUTL and Singapore Polytechnic Collaborate to Enhance Student Contribution to Sustainable Development

On March 25, 2025, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL), through its International Relations Office, held the opening ceremony for Learning Express 2025, a collaborative workshop with Singapore Polytechnic (SP), Singapore. The event took place at the Innovation Room, 6th Floor, 56th Anniversary Building, and was presided over by Dr. Aksaja Duangsupasin, Vice President for Student Affairs and Alumni Relations.

Also attending the ceremony were key university administrators, including Asst. Prof. Dr. Thitibhorn PhantaChang, Dr. Sasiphat Sankolkit, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanthana Ditkaew, along with facilitators and invited guests from both institutions.

Now in its ninth year, Learning Express focuses on Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), particularly the goal of promoting collaboration through student engagement in sustainable development efforts. The program is designed to enhance academic and intercultural learning through real-world experiences that challenge students to co-create solutions with local communities.

This year, Learning Express takes place from March 24 to April 4, 2025, at RMUTL and in selected community locations such as Ban Don Luang in Lamphun Province, Ban Choeng Doi, and Ban Ton Nae Noi in Chiang Mai Province. Participants engage in hands-on activities using design thinking, teamwork, and cross-cultural communication, with a focus on developing social innovation projects that address community needs.

Participants include:

  • 30 students from Singapore Polytechnic

  • 3 facilitators from Singapore Polytechnic

  • 3 guest speakers from RMUTL

  • 9 RMUTL facilitators

  • 3 observer lecturers

  • 4 International Relations Office staff

Through interdisciplinary student collaboration and the development of educational tools and local solutions, the program embodies the essence of Target 17.2. : encouraging institutions of higher education to work together in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. By connecting students with communities in meaningful ways, Learning Express 2025 fosters not only academic growth but also global citizenship and a strong foundation for long-term partnerships for sustainable change.
