Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL) actively measures the sustainability literacy of its students, emphasizing a structured and collaborative approach. RMUTL has established a dedicated committee responsible for assessing and enhancing students’ understanding of sustainability principles. This committee oversees various programs and initiatives that assess sustainability literacy, aligning them with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to ensure students gain practical and theoretical knowledge in this critical area. Through systematic evaluation and data collection, RMUTL can track progress and continually improve its educational strategies, promoting a culture of sustainability awareness across the campus.
In addition to internal efforts, RMUTL benchmarks its sustainability literacy process by studying best practices from other universities that have achieved high rankings in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking. On September 6–7, 2023, RMUTL’s committee members conducted site visits to universities in Thailand, including King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), and King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. These universities shared insights into their data collection, activity planning, and alignment with the SDG criteria, providing RMUTL with valuable perspectives to refine its approach. This benchmarking initiative reinforces RMUTL’s commitment to attaining international standards in sustainability literacy, helping the university work towards achieving a place in the global rankings while enriching its students’ educational experience.
