In 2024, RMUTL strengthened its commitment to Zero Hunger through targeted actions to reduce food insecurity. The university organized meal distributions, established food banks, and designated food-sharing areas to ensure access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food for all students and staff. These initiatives enhance well-being and academic success while promoting a sustainable and food-secure campus community.
Preventing hunger among RMUTL students and Staff Project

The Institute of Research and Development met with university executives to set the framework for the RMUTL Disaster Management Centre.
On December 16, 2024, RMUTL’s Institute of Research and Development, chaired by Asst. Prof. Phisit Wimonthanasit, held a strategic meeting to establish the RMUTL Disaster Management Center. Funded by Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI), the project aims to improve flood disaster management in Lampang Province, enhance resilience, and support food security (SDG 2). The initiative focuses on closing operational gaps, developing data-driven response systems, creating innovative technologies, and promoting volunteer training and collaboration with public, private, and local partners for effective disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.

Building on past flood experiences, RMUTL has provided safe water, emergency kitchens, and volunteers to support community resilience, food security, and well-being. The university is upgrading its Disaster Management Centre with advanced communication systems, volunteer networks, and community-focused disaster education to serve as a regional hub for preparedness and collaboration. RMUTL also awarded its 2024 Flood Relief Scholarships to students affected by disasters, supporting their studies and reinforcing its commitment to student welfare.

RMUTL mobilized faculty, staff, and students to provide boxed meals and drinking water to flood-affected communities in Chiang Mai, supporting social responsibility and sustainable development.

On October 7, 2024, RMUTL supported flood-affected communities in Chiang Mai by providing boxed meals and clean water using the Hydro Pure system. Led by Associate Prof. Uten Kamnan and Asst. Prof. Dr. Chatturith Thongpron, university teams coordinated with local authorities across Chiang Mai and Lamphun. The initiative strengthened food security, disaster resilience, and community well-being, reflecting RMUTL’s mission for sustainable social impact.
