RMUTL adopted the “Building Renovation and Energy Conservation Construction Policy (B.E. 2568)” (April 2025), which mandates energy-saving design principles and the responsible use of natural resources in all new construction and renovation projects. The policy strengthens cooperation with municipal and state agencies to ensure that physical development across all RMUTL campuses is sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient.
Building Renovation and Energy Conservation Construction Policy (B.E. 2568 / 2025)
ประกาศมหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีราชมงคลล้านนา เรื่อง นโยบายการปรับปรุงหรือก่อสร้างอาคารประหยัดพลังงาน พ.ศ. 2568
Date: April 2025
Signer: Assoc. Prof.Wichet Thipprasert, Acting President, RMUTL

Purpose:
RMUTL issues this policy to align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy) and Thailand’s higher education sustainability movement, ensuring that renovation and new construction projects use energy and natural resources efficiently and minimize environmental impact.
Policy Scope:
Applies to all RMUTL campuses and covers renovation, refurbishment, and new construction.
Main Policy Measures:
(1) Promote planning and energy-efficient energy use in every stage of building operation to maximize benefit.
(2) Encourage the use of renewable or recycled materials and environmentally friendly construction techniques.
(3) Promote tree planting and green space development to reduce heat and absorb carbon emissions.
(4) Support building designs following Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment guidelines.
(5) Continuously improve and revise renovation methods to enhance energy efficiency.
Commitment:
RMUTL pledges cooperation with municipal authorities and relevant government departments to ensure planning and development are environmentally sustainable, socially responsible, and long-term in orientation.
Earlier, RMUTL Chiang Rai had issued a formal Energy Conservation Policy (March 28, 2024) in compliance with Thailand’s national standards for government “controlled buildings.” This policy is reinforced by comprehensive 2024 Energy Efficiency Measures, including air-conditioning temperature control (set at 25°C), smart-switch pilot installations, and lighting-use scheduling, all of which ensure that building operation, renovation, and maintenance processes adhere to recognized energy-efficiency standards.
At the university level, RMUTL Chiang Mai organized knowledge-building workshops on EV-charging-station technology (March 6–8, 2024) to promote technical capacity and awareness of energy-efficient and clean-energy infrastructure for future campus facilities.
