Tackling Food Insecurity Among Staff

RMUTL is committed to addressing food insecurity among students and staff in line with the principle of “Leave No One Behind.” The university provides integrated support through food assistance, financial aid, access to clean water, and livelihood opportunities to promote social well-being and economic security.

Food Aid and Staff Welfare

RMUTL supports staff through benefits such as social security, a provident fund, and a savings cooperative. Food assistance is provided through food banks, community kitchens, free meals, drinking-water stations, and food-sharing cabinets stocked with essential food items. The university also distributes locally developed products through initiatives such as the annual “Blessing Baskets,” promoting community well-being, local innovation, and sustainability.

Access to Clean Water

The university provides safe drinking water through Hydro Pure systems, mobile water units, and campus-wide water stations. Food vendors also collaborate with RMUTL and external partners to use donated ingredients to prepare nutritious meals for those in need.

Medium- and Long-Term Food Security

RMUTL promotes self-sufficiency by supporting students and staff in growing rice, vegetables, and fruits and raising livestock on university land. Seeds, tools, land, and organic farming knowledge are provided, while surplus produce can be consumed or shared with the community.

To strengthen long-term economic security, students receive practical training in food production, agriculture, online commerce, renewable energy, language services, and tourism. Work-integrated learning, internships, cooperative education, and partnerships with government, private-sector, and civil-society organizations further expand employment and income opportunities.

Staff Financial Security

RMUTL’s Provident Fund and salary structure promote employees’ financial security and decent living standards. Salaries reflect qualifications, experience, responsibilities, and performance. Most staff earn approximately THB 15,000–45,000 per month, well above the extreme poverty threshold. Career advancement and performance-based pay further support staff development, stability, and well-being.

Employee Wage and Livelihood Support

RMUTL supports staff development and well-being through qualification-based salaries, structured career progression, and performance-based compensation. Academic salaries range from THB 24,000–31,500 at entry level, with career advancement up to THB 122,440 per month, while support staff salaries reflect qualifications and experience. Most personnel earn THB 24,000–45,000 per month, demonstrating RMUTL’s commitment to fair compensation, financial security, and decent living standards.

In 2025, RMUTL takes concrete action to strengthen the financial security, livelihood, and well-being of its employees through fair and improved wage policies. As part of this commitment, on 17 September 2025, the university approved revisions to the wage rates of temporary employees and introduced a temporary cost-of-living allowance for lower-paid staff.

The revised wage structure provides higher monthly compensation according to employees’ educational qualifications, including adjustments for doctoral, master’s, bachelor’s, vocational, and secondary education levels. In particular, employees earning less than THB 10,000 per month are eligible for an additional cost-of-living allowance to increase their total monthly income to THB 11,000.

This action demonstrates RMUTL’s commitment to decent work, fair compensation, financial stability, and employee well-being. By improving income security and addressing living-cost pressures, the university supports employees in meeting their essential needs and enables them to perform their duties effectively in support of RMUTL’s educational and institutional mission.
