Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL) has partnered with University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) to conduct the “Professional Educator Enhancement Program (PEEP),” a hands-on workshop aimed at enriching faculty expertise in teaching and research methodologies that support Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This workshop, organized under the collaborative framework of both institutions, brought expert trainers from UTHM’s Centre of Research Sustainable Professional Education for Excellent Development (COR-SPEED) to RMUTL’s Innovation Room. Targeting 40 faculty members across education, liberal arts, and social sciences, the program provided training in innovative pedagogical approaches and quantitative research techniques. These enhanced skills aim to equip faculty with tools to address complex SDG challenges, particularly those related to quality education, data-driven research, and impactful community engagement.
The collaboration illustrates RMUTL’s commitment to tackling SDG challenges through cross-border academic research and the development of comparative approaches to educational improvement. By learning from UTHM’s advanced educational strategies, RMUTL faculty can refine their research capabilities to address local and regional sustainability issues, including the adaptation of research methods for practical, community-oriented solutions. Acting President Assistant Professor Dr. Jutturit Thongpron emphasized the importance of integrating such international best practices to create a robust, research-led framework that empowers faculty to produce evidence-based insights for SDG-related policies and programs. This partnership aligns with SDG 17’s goal of strengthening research and educational collaboration globally, as RMUTL leverages international expertise to build capacity, enhance teaching, and develop impactful research aligned with sustainability challenges. Through these international collaborations, RMUTL not only adopts but contributes to global best practices, positioning itself as a vital player in the research and educational advancement needed to meet the SDGs.
