Partnering with community organizations, local authorities, and government agencies, the university promotes value-added production, sustainable agriculture, and entrepreneurial skills.
Key initiatives include business incubation projects like the “Chiang Rai Smart Model: Farmer and Entrepreneur Network,” offering hands-on training in agricultural techniques, product processing, and market strategies to address challenges such as oversupply and substandard produce.
RMUTL also supports human resource development in food and nutrition, with staff participating in programs like “One Village One Thai Chef” to enhance culinary and teaching skills. Through practical training, mentorship, and networking, RMUTL strengthens farmers’ and food professionals’ capacity to innovate, add value to local products, and contribute to community and national development.

On December 16, 2024, RMUTL Chiang Rai, in collaboration with local administrative organizations, community enterprises, and the Technology Clinic, launched the “Chiang Rai Smart Model: Farmer and Entrepreneur Network” business incubation project. Held at Chiang Rai Happy Life Organic Farm, the initiative promotes local innovation, participatory learning, and sustainable community development by reducing risks, strengthening resilience, and improving resource management.
Participants engaged in hands-on activities, including making agricultural compost microorganisms, fresh milk hormone formulas, salad rolls, organic juices, kimchi, and natural soaps, transferring practical agricultural and entrepreneurial skills. The event, opened by Mr. Jeerapong Jaiwong, President of the Sai Khao Subdistrict Administrative Organization, drew numerous farmers and local entrepreneurs committed to applying innovations for community development

On December 17, 2024, RMUTL Chiang Rai held a “Chiang Rai Smart Model: Network of Farmers and Entrepreneurs” activity at Nam Wa Community Enterprise. The program trained farmers and entrepreneurs in production standards and value-added processing to reduce waste and enhance lower-grade produce. Collaborating with local authorities, the initiative helps develop processing facilities, strengthen skills, boost local economic growth, and promote sustainable, high-quality agricultural products for competitive markets.

Food and Nutrition Staff Attend “One Village One Thai Chef” Training
From January 6–10, 2025, staff from RMUTL Chiang Mai and Tak’s Food and Nutrition program, led by Associate Professor Dr. Atchara Donwitayakun, participated in the “One Village One Thai Chef: One Family One Soft Power (OFOS)” training at the Thailand Institute of Food, Bangkok. The program, led by Chef Chumpol Jangprai, aims to develop Thai cuisine as national soft power by training university personnel as instructors to teach professional Thai cooking techniques. Through mentorship and hands-on training, participants gain skills to support food entrepreneurship, enhance teaching, and contribute to Thailand’s culinary economy. Between 2024–2027, the program targets training 75,000 professional chefs, boosting employment and strengthening Thailand’s food soft power.
