RMUTL integrates preventive health education, medical assistance, and community outreach within its health-promotion system. The university ensures that all students—regardless of gender, background, or socioeconomic status—can access sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information and services confidentially, safely, and respectfully.

Accessible Sexual and Reproductive Health Services on Campus

RMUTL provides on-campus health support through its First Aid and Health Service Unit, under the Student Development Division. The service operates Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., offering basic medical assistance, health consultations, and referrals to partner hospitals for specialized reproductive or sexual health care.

According to the university’s official Health Service page, RMUTL’s health service staff are trained to provide preliminary reproductive health advice and guidance on sexual well-being, including:

  • Counselling on safe sexual behaviour and contraception methods
  • Information on sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and prevention
  • Referral and coordination with local hospitals and public health centres for advanced services such as reproductive screenings, pregnancy care, and HIV testing

Partnerships with Local Health Institutions

RMUTL collaborates with Chiang Mai Provincial Public Health Office, Nakornping Hospital, and Saraphi Hospital, among other partners, to provide accessible reproductive and sexual health education. Through these partnerships, students benefit from:

  • Annual health check-ups, which include reproductive health screening and consultation on sexual wellness.
  • Educational sessions conducted by medical professionals on topics such as family planning, menstrual health, and STI prevention.
  • Referral pathways for reproductive care, prenatal services, and specialized sexual health treatment.

Education and Awareness Programmes for Youth Empowerment

RMUTL integrates sexual and reproductive health education into its student development framework, emphasizing prevention, awareness, and respect. The Student Development Division, in cooperation with the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Science and public health experts, organizes regular workshops and campaigns such as:

  • “Healthy Relationships and Responsible Sexuality” seminars, focusing on respect, consent, and emotional intelligence in relationships.
  • “Know Your Body” sessions providing science-based information about anatomy, reproductive health, menstrual hygiene, and sexual rights.
  • Awareness campaigns on STI prevention, contraception, and responsible decision-making.

These programmes target both male and female students and encourage open, stigma-free discussion about sexual well-being. The use of peer educators—trained student volunteers—helps foster trust and effective communication among participants.

Gender Equality and Confidential Support

RMUTL’s health services emphasize confidentiality, gender sensitivity, and non-discrimination. All counselling and outreach programmes are guided by ethical standards that respect privacy and equality.

The university’s health officers and psychologists are trained to address gender-specific concerns with empathy and professionalism, including:

  • Reproductive health education for women and menstrual hygiene management
  • Support and advice for students facing unintended pregnancies
  • Sexual harassment prevention and reporting mechanisms
  • Education on gender equality and respect in interpersonal relationships

Psychological and Emotional Support Related to Sexual Health

Sexual and reproductive well-being is closely linked to mental and emotional health. RMUTL’s Psychological Counselling Service, part of the RMUTL Health Service Unit, provides safe and confidential mental health support to students experiencing emotional stress or anxiety related to relationships, body image, or sexual identity.

Trained psychologists offer individual counselling, group therapy, and crisis intervention when needed. Students can access these services freely through walk-in consultations or by booking appointments online via the RMUTL Student Care Facebook page.

This integrated model ensures that mental and sexual health are addressed together, promoting holistic well-being.

Community Outreach and Volunteer Engagement

RMUTL encourages student participation in community health projects that promote sexual and reproductive awareness among youth in local areas. Through collaborations with regional public health offices, students volunteer in educational campaigns addressing:

  • Adolescent pregnancy prevention
  • Safe sex practices
  • Reproductive rights and family planning

These activities help bridge knowledge gaps and strengthen RMUTL’s role as a community partner. They also provide experiential learning opportunities for students studying health sciences, education, or social work.

RMUTL meets this target by providing:

  1. Access to sexual and reproductive healthcare: Through the on-campus health unit and partnerships with hospitals for referrals and screening.
  2. Information and education: Via seminars, workshops, peer education, and awareness campaigns.
  3. Psychological support: Integrated counselling services addressing emotional and relational aspects of sexual health.
  4. Gender-sensitive services: Upholding confidentiality, equality, and respect for diverse identities.

These combined actions promote responsible behaviour, health literacy, and empowerment among RMUTL students—contributing to sustainable, informed lifestyles.
