In 2024, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL) continued to implement its policy against forced labor, modern slavery, human trafficking, and child labor. The university upholds ethical employment practices and ensures that all personnel management procedures comply with national labor standards and international human rights principles.

The university has established personnel management policies that define the qualifications and requirements for employees in higher education, ensuring that all individuals meet general qualifications and have no disqualifying characteristics as specified in the Regulations of Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna on Personnel Management for Employees in Higher Education Institutions (2010). This aligns with the university’s continued efforts to prevent and eliminate all forms of labor exploitation.

According to Article 13 (a) of the regulation, employees must be at least eighteen years old and not older than sixty years. They must not be legally incompetent or morally unfit. Furthermore, Article 17 mandates that the recruitment and selection process for employment in higher education must be conducted through competitive examinations or selection procedures determined by the committee, ensuring fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity for all applicants.

Additionally, RMUTL requires new employees to undergo fingerprint checks to verify criminal history, as stipulated in Article 13 (7), Section 3 concerning employees in higher education. A clear employment contract must be signed by both parties before work begins, guaranteeing mutual understanding of rights and responsibilities.

The university also issued the Announcement on Working Hours, Leave Policies, Payment, and Position Allowances During Employee Leave (2016) to define working conditions clearly. Section 1, General Provisions, Article 6, specifies that working hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a lunch break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Regular days off include Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, and university-declared holidays.

Furthermore, Section 2, Article 14 outlines nine types of leave: sick leave, maternity leave, leave to assist a spouse with childbirth, personal leave, vacation leave, leave for ordination or pilgrimage, military service leave, professional development leave, and leave for rehabilitation of work capacity. These provisions ensure that all employees receive fair treatment, humane working conditions, and work-life balance.

Through these ongoing efforts, RMUTL reaffirms its commitment to maintaining a safe, fair, and ethical working environment, fully aligned with national labor laws and the principles of SDG 8 — Decent Work and Economic Growth.
