2–11 May 2025 – Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL), represented by Associate Professor Dr. Pracha Yuenyongkul, Project Leader, and Ms. Sumana Sorathiwa, Project Coordinator, participated in the international research project “Learning for a Sustainable Future – Higher Education for Green Transition in Southeast Asia (GreenEdAsia)” under the ERASMUS-EDU-2024-CBHE-STAND-2 programme at the University of Burgos (UBU), Spain.
GreenEdAsia is a 36-month international collaboration involving six higher education institutions from Finland, Spain, Vietnam, and Thailand. The partnership provides a platform for participating universities to exchange knowledge, review comparative approaches, and learn from international practices in addressing sustainability challenges and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The meeting was conducted under Work Package 5: Strengthening Capacities of Partner HEIs, with activities focusing on innovative approaches to sustainable higher education. Participants explored the integration of universities with society and industry, applied Future Foresight Methods to identify competencies required for a low-carbon and sustainable future, and exchanged knowledge on bioeconomy and sustainable development practices.
Study visits provided opportunities to examine and compare practical approaches in different contexts, including university–community collaboration at Yacimientos de Atapuerca, university–industry collaboration at Pradorey Vineyard, and renewable hydrogen technology at Hiperbaric, a strategic partner of the University of Burgos. Participants also discussed internationalization in higher education and approaches to strengthening faculty competencies for future sustainability challenges.
Through this international collaboration and research, RMUTL gained opportunities to review and compare approaches from European and Southeast Asian partner institutions, exchange sustainability knowledge, and identify international best practices that can be adapted to higher education and sustainable development contexts.
