15 August 2025 – Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL), together with representatives from Government Savings Bank (GSB) Region 8, conducted a field visit to Ban Mae Khanad Community, Lamphun Province, to monitor the project “Conservation of Naturally Dyed Backstrap Weaving of the Pwo Karen Ethnic Group.” The project is part of the 2025 GSB Yuwapat Rakthin Programme, a collaboration between RMUTL and Government Savings Bank aimed at supporting cultural preservation, community enterprise development, and local sustainability.
The field visit brought together stakeholders from higher education, the financial sector, students, and the local community enterprise, providing a platform for cross-sectoral dialogue, knowledge exchange, and discussion of project outcomes and community needs. The RMUTL Vision Makers student team presented its work with the Ban Mae Khanad weaving community, including creative design, media development, and community enterprise management to enhance the value and market accessibility of traditional Pwo Karen weaving.
The collaboration produced a Story Lookbook and E-book, digital marketing materials, and video media communicating the cultural, economic, and environmental value of the community’s traditional weaving. The initiative also encouraged students and local youth to participate in cultural preservation and practical community-based learning, while supporting the long-term sustainability of the local enterprise.
